Investigation of Hillslope Vineyard Soil Water Dynamics Using Field Measurements and Numerical Modeling

چکیده

Soil heterogeneities can impact hillslope hydropedological processes (e.g., portioning between infiltration and runoff), creating a need for in-depth knowledge of governing water dynamics redistribution. The presented study was conducted at the SUPREHILL Critical Zone Observatory (CZO) (hillslope vineyard) in 2021. A combination field investigation (soil sampling monitoring campaign) numerical modeling with hydrological simulator HYDRUS-1D used to explore conjunction data from sensor network content (SWC) soil-water potential (SWP) sensors), along (hilltop, backslope, footslope). hydraulic properties (SHP) were estimated based on (i) pedotransfer functions (PTFs), (ii) undisturbed soil cores, (iii) data, tested HYDRUS. Additionally, model ensemble mean HYDRUS simulations calculated PTFs. highest agreement simulated observed SWC 40 cm depth found laboratory lowest average MAE, RMSE MAPE (0.02, 0.02, 5.34%, respectively), R2 (0.93), while 80 depth, PTF performed better (MAE = 0.03, 7.55%, 0.81) than other datasets. Field observations indicated that heterogeneity spatial variability regarding parameters present site. Over hillslope, acted heterogeneous manner, which most pronounced during rewetting. Model results suggested incorporation expands performance is feasible option absence data.

Field Measurements and 3D Numerical Modeling of Hydrodynamics in Chabahar Bay, Iran

As the first phase of a series of monitoring and modeling studies of Iranian coastal areas, Chabahar Bay, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Oman, was under a comprehensive monitoring and modeling study in 2006-2007. The study included an extensive one-year field measurements program to help understanding the ongoing processes in the bay and provide inputs or boundary conditions and vali...

Evaluation and Mapping Spatial Distribution of Copper Pollution in Soil and Water of Vineyard Garden

Background and objectives: The use of copper based fungicides is a crucial part of agricultural operations in vineyards, increasing productivity and crops. However, the long term application of fungicide could increase the copper concentration in the vineyard soils. Methods: In this study, soil and water chemical parameters including copper contamination, pH and EC as well as soil organic ...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

Erosion of upland hillslope soil organic carbon: Coupling field measurements with a sediment transport model

[1] Little is known about the role of vegetated hillslope sediment transport in the soil C cycle and soil-atmosphere C exchange. We combined a hillslope sediment transport model with empirical soil C measurements to quantify the erosion and temporal storage of soil organic carbon (SOC) within two grasslands in central California. The sites have contrasting erosional mechanisms: biological pertu...
